RETINAL DISORDERS: Retina is the innermost lining of the eye. It is the structure which helps us to see, identify colours and make it possible to see even in very low light or darkness. Many diseases affect retina causing visual disability. Important common retinal diseases are Diabetic Retinopathy, Vascular occlusion(CRVO/BRVO), Age related macular degeneration (ARMD),Retinal Detachments, Macular Hole, Vitreous Hemorrhage. Some young patients may suffer from sudden onset of blurry vision due to CSR. Some genetic diseases also affect retina.
Medical treatment with Anti VEGF injections and lasers are important modalities of treatment. Diabetic Retinopathy is presently most important cause of visual disability in our country due to increased number of diabetes patients. We provide advanced technology for diagnosis and treatment for diabetic eye diseases at this institute. However surgical treatment for retinal disorders is not presently available here. We refer those patients to facilities with where surgery can be done.
